Bringing Home the Bacon With The Pig Cutting Board

Next time you need to chop up a few peppers or core an apple, reach for the pig. The Pig Cutting Board, that is. Located in Beaufort, husband-and-wife team Tom and Mary Gallagher handcraft hardwood pig-shaped cutting boards from the finest materials available, including black walnut and hard maple. They’ve been doing so for more than 30 years, after starting the venture living in Wynnewood, Penn., making the boards for family and friends.

The boards are hand-cut, hand-sanded and hand-filed, then coated with mineral oil. They come in a variety of sizes, with names of famous porkers, such as Wilbur, Babe and Petunia.

If you give the gift of a pig cutting board this holiday season – to someone else or yourself – you’re also helping out people in need, as the Gallaghers donate the majority of their proceeds to those who are in less fortunate circumstances.
