On the Local Level Spring 2013
MOUNT OLIVE COLLEGE’s Collegiate Young Farmers & Ranchers Committee worked with the Interfaith Food Shuttle, led by Lindsay Perry, to glean more than 36,000 pounds of fresh produce at nine events. Participating students logged more than 775 hours of community service in this effort. The majority of produce gleaned was cabbage and collards. The amount collected provided more than 155,882 USDA servings to families in need. Access to fresh produce was provided by Burch Farms in Faison, Roger Lane in Turkey and J. Roland Farm in Benson.
