Mountain Glory Festival
Oct. 13, Marion
Celebrate the arrival of autumn in the Blue Ridge Mountains at the annual Mountain Glory Festival.
For 35 years, downtown Marion has hosted the festival to celebrate small-town life in the mountains on the second Saturday in October.
A day packed with live entertainment, children’s games and activities, and a best-dressed pet contest, the festival celebrates all that mountain living has to offer. Local artisans are featured on three blocks, with more than 150 booths featuring locally made arts and crafts, as well as a variety of festival foods.
The event will also crown Miss Mountain Glory Festival, who will be awarded a $500 scholarship, and Miss Mountain Glory Teen.
The newly renovated train caboose at the historic Marion Depot will be open for free public tours during the festival, and the annual Mountain Glory Quilt Show will take place inside of the McDowell Arts Council.
Mountain Glory Festival fun kicks off at 9 a.m. Saturday morning and goes 5 p.m. Admission is free and everyone is welcome.
